• 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cold butter

  1. Mix together flour, baking powder and salt.
  2. Cut in butter with fork until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add milk while stirring with a fork, until dough is soft, moist and pulls away from the side of the bowl.
  4. Place dough lightly floured surface and toss with flour until no longer sticky.
  5. Roll dough out until 1/2 inch thick and cut with a floured biscuit or cookie cutter. Do not twist the cutter when you’re cutting out the biscuits. Twisting prevents them from rising.
  6. Press together unused dough and repeat rolling and cutting procedure.
  7. Place biscuits on ungreased baking sheet and bake in preheated oven at 450 degrees until golden brown, about 10 minutes.
